Trivia

  • James Kelly, signed from Renton, was the club’s first captain.
  • Willie and Jimmy McStay were brothers and Paul McStay was their great-nephew.
  • Charlie Shaw was a goalkeeper and the only one to be the team captain in Celtic’s history (excluding some odd games).
  • Sean Fallon (Ireland) was the first non-Scot to be the Celtic captain, followed soon by Bertie Peacock (Northern Ireland).
  • Alec McNair was captain for 13 years, Billy McNeill for 12 years, Scott Brown for 11 years.
