Match report from The Scotsman, 19th April 1920

[…] The game at Fir Park, Motherwell, between Motherwell and Celtic was brimful of excitement the whole ninety minutes, and after a hard, keen game, the teams retired with honours even. Motherwell had by far the better of the game, but Shaw, McNair, and Dodds were at the height of their form and staved off defeat. The Motherwell defence never allowed the Celts to settle, and their attack was mediocre in consequence. Ferguson, Rankin, and Gardner were the stars in a strong Motherwell attack.

Celtic Lose Ground
An accident sustained by McAtee in the last minute of the midweek game with Albion Rovers, and a mishap to Gallagher in the course of the game at Motherwell, enabled the Lanarkshire club to maintain their unbeaten home record, and at the same time extinguished all hopes of Celtic close-hauling Rangers in the race for the League Championsip.
