Review

(by TheHumanTorpedo)
Sir Robert Kelly puts his own persoanl spin on the history of Celtic in this intresting read from the early 1970s.

Published soon after the club’s failure to win the 1970 European Cup ‘Celtic’ is an interesting personal account of the club’s past and (then) present triumphs from the days when the Bhoys could genuinely consider themselves to be among the very best European football has to offer.

There have been far more rounded and more extensive histories of the club but ‘Celtic’ is not without its merits and charms.

It certainly provides an insight to the views and opinion of the then recently appointed club president – a man who for all his varied faults was unquestionably devoted to Celtic.

‘Celtic’ may be a rather narrow view of the history of the Hoops but it remains a valuable snapshot of the club in it’s prime and of the man who for so long pulled the Parkhead strings.

For that reason alone it is a book worth owning.
