Review

Holding a lead of 7-0 from the first leg Celtic started poorly after the home fans had given Waterford a splendid ovation.

Waterford scored when McNeill sliced a cross past his own keeper. Wallace hit the bar and then he and Lennox went close to equalising before Matthews made it 2-0 when he raced past Craig for a fine goal.

At half time Stein read the Celts the riot act and Hood replaced Lennox with Hughes now deployed through the centre. Hughes pulled a goal back after Johnstone gave him the chance and then the wee man scored twice, firstly from a header and the second a prod home after a scramble in the area.

Celtic fans gave Waterford a rousing reception at the final whistle.
