Review

THE SCOTTISH UMPIRE 12/06/1888

The Celtic, who seemingly are bent on playing throughout the summer, had a visit from the Dundee Harp on Saturday. Both Kelly and McCallum, of Renton, were expected to play in the home ranks, but at the last minute the services of Boyle and Hughes had to be called into requisition. The play throughout was stoutly contested, but it was close on time ere any scoring took place—Colman, after a piece of manoeuvring, notching the first, and what proved to be, the only point of the match. The strongest point of the Celtic's team on Saturday was the back division, Phil Murray at half being particularly noticeable. The forwards did not pass well to one another, a fault which time will remedy. O'Kane for the Harp was in grand style, and treated the spectators to a fine display of long kicking. The halfs worked well, but, like their opponents, the forwards were poor at close quarters.
