- Giles Heron debut for Celtic.
- Fallon dropped back to right back to make way for Heron, the position he was said to prefer despite a very decent goal scoring record as centre forward on the USA/Canada tour and in the St Mungo's Cup.
- There was increasing dissatisfaction with the decisions and the quality of the refereeing in Scotland after just two games of the new season. The chatter on the terraces had translated itself into articles in the Press with not only letters to the press but articles from journalists and analysis.
ReviewHeron was the talk of the game. He appeared to be quick and not averse to using his stature and physique to gain an advantage. He took his goal well from a Tully cross. apart from that the game was described as a 'perambulation to victory' for Celtic.
