  • Celtic left for America on the 8th May with the following party: Bonnar, Byrne, Donnelly, Fallon, Fernie, Higgins, Jack, MacKay, McMillan, McPhail, Meechan, Mochan, Peacock, Ryan, Smith, Tully with Collins and Evans to join the party on the 29th May.
  • Bertie Peacock was made captian for the 1957-58 season to come
  • Arriving in New York they settled into the Paramount Hotel and began a daily routine of morning training at the Triborough Stadium in Randall's Island in the East River. (It was actually called the Downing Stadium, having been renamed in 1955)
  • Played in New York at the Triborough Stadium, the Rockaway Beach, Long Island American Irish band furnished the music (NOT - as stated on some sites - in Philadelphia)
