Review

Clyde opened the game sharply in magnificent sunny weather and had good efforts early on. For the first 20 minutes they all but controlled the game. But after Byrne opened the scoring for Celtic the errors in the Clyde game became all too apparent with poor tackling and passing. Byrne nurtmegged Sim at centre half so many times that it became a habit that the Clyde player seemed incapable of countering. Colrain too had a magnificent game of passing and dribbling which no one in the Clyde side could get near. Smith and Divers, neither of whom was a natural weinger also contributed well. Half backs MacKay, Evans and Peacock appeared to have their own contest on who could supply the best long pass such was the quality of possession and passing from them.
Byrne who scored three goals could well have had another three but was pretty profligate in goal missing when free and in the open. McCulloch in the Clyde goal played well to keep the score at 5 against.
