Review

Ayr Utd played it very tight in the first half with a fully defensive set up. But Jimmy Johnstone's headed goal from a Tommy Gemmell free kick made them have to rethink the plan at half time. With a more open set up in the second half Celtic found more space and better shooting opportunities. Steve Chalmers added a hatrick and John Hughes scored his first goal since coming back from his injury before the New Year.
