Review

A game played in cold windy conditions. Bobby Murdoch was injured early and left the field for 10 minutes for attention by the trainer. In this period Hearts missed easy chances. With Murdoch back on play was more even with chances at both ends. Three minutes from half time Bertie Auld put Celtic in front after Jinky beat his marker twice and his cross was beaten out to Bertie who shot home.
The second half proved to be all Celtic's burt almost 20 minutes passed before Wallace put Celtic further ahead direct from a free kick. Jimmy Johnstone won a penalty fror Celtic when he was upended in the area and Tommy Gemmell's first kick was saved. However the referee had spotted an infringement and he made no mistake with his second attempt.
