Trivia

  • Celtic drop two points again! Pathetic after being 2 ahead.
  • A crazy week for Celtic & Scottish football. Due to the events of the scandals from the 2-0 Dundee Utd game which saw officials lie & cover-up errors, a whole avalanche of criticism onto first the SFA & then wrongly onto Celtic has seen us force Scottish football into the defence.
  • Hugh Dallas (head of referees) has been forced to resign due to the above and the revelation of a crude joke about the Pope & child abuse. For more details see: link
  • Green Brigade spent most of the game humming the "Dallas" (TV soap opera) theme tune in honour (sic!) of Hugh Dallas!
  • Bitterly cold weather (snow storms etc) kept the attendance well low.
  • Debut for Richie Towell

Due to a running battle now between the Green brigade & the club, the Green Brigade drums were not allowed today, a heavy police and steward presence outside Section 111 with most fans said to be getting full body searches, numerours fans getting details taken etc.

Group had a small display planned that consisted of few message banners saying

REFS DEMANDS?
– RIGHT TO LIE
– RIGHT TO CONSPIRE
– RIGHT TO CONCOCT STORY'S

All knocked back on say so of the club.

Group sat for 20 mins, then started supporting as normal – to a great reception from the rest of the stadium.

Review

Thanks Dan.

A pass which showed me he had switched off. He thought the game was won, he was too relaxed.

After that, we were totally under the cosh. The writing was on the wall. We did not know how to stem the tide, we did not know how to freshen it up, we did not know how to change the flow of the game and get ourselves back on top.

As far as the selection went and 3-5-2, I can see the logic of it. Usually teams come to Celtic Park, sit in, play one up front, so you would think, why play a back 4? Why? Well the two full backs are usually a key role for Celtic. They have to get forward to give us the width that we require at times, and a 3 at the back does not allow this. Aye, we had Agathe doing it, but he was unique. For me, a 3 at the back does not work. It stifles our "wing backs".
When we were in the 3-5-2 I felt that McCourt was the key. Though if ICT had decided to mark him out the game, we would have been devoid of ideas as the "wing backs" were not getting forward enough. That option seemed closed. We needed options from Ledley and Ki, and also they needed to provide a threat. IIRC they had one run each and then Ki got the goal, so fair play to Ki.

Who came on for Ledley?

By moving to a 4, I felt it gave us a more confident look. The players looked more comfortable with it too.

2 great goals, a great touch, turn and shot from Ki, and Paddy…. well…. PADDY!

Lennon is now becoming more and more under the microscope here. He messed up last week for me with the formation and today, we showed that we had no idea in how to turn the game back in our favour.

By no means ahm I focussing on him, but I feel it needs to be mentioned.

Must do better.

6 home points in a fortnight. We picked up 2. Four down.

Oh, and well done to ICT. To go a year undefeated away from home is a brilliant achievement. Pity their Manager is that poisonous bastard Terry Butcher. A scumbag of a man, and to quote a female family friend who had a run in with him, "not a very nice person".

Celtic 2-2 Inverness CT

Inverness Caledonian Thistle celebrated a year-long unbeaten away league run with a spirited draw against Celtic.
Ki Sung-Yeung fired in off the post before half-time, and Paddy McCourt added a fine solo strike in the 65th minute after easing into the box.
A defensive slip-up by Celtic allowed Richie Foran to strike in off the post, reducing Inverness's deficit.
Grant Munro's overhead kick from a Ross Tokely corner seven minutes from time salvaged a point for the visitors.

Terry Butcher's side have now gone a full calendar year on the road without a league defeat, while Celtic missed the opportunity to top the Scottish Premier League table on goal difference.
Charlie Mulgrew replaced injured left-back Emilio Izaguirre for the hosts, while Dutch stopper Jos Hooiveld replaced winger Niall McGinn to partner Thomas Rogne and Daniel Majstorovic in a three-man central defence with Daryl Murphy and Gary Hooper in attack.
Inverness kept the same side which beat Hibernian last week with Adam Rooney leading the line.
Inside the first five minutes, Celtic's Murphy played in a slick ball to Shaun Maloney, who controlled and fired towards goal, but Inverness keeper Ryan Easson was equal to the task.
A few moments later, Mulgrew had to be fully alert to block a shot from Inverness forward Rooney.
A brief spell of pressure from the visitors built up to Johnny Hayes forcing a corner from defender Hooiveld, then Murphy had the ball in the back of the net, but Luxembourg referee Alain Hamer ruled offside.
Rooney tried for goal with a curling effort as the half-hour mark approached, but Celtic keeper Fraser Forster made the save.
The opener arrived for the hosts seven minutes from the break when Esson was beaten when Ki latched on to a McCourt pass and struck in off the near post for his second goal of the season.
After the restart, Celtic had a few nervous moments as Inverness kept up the pressure with a flurry of corners and the majority of possession in the opening minutes.
Stuart Duff produced a cross that Celtic defender Majstorovic cleared, then Murphy took a perfectly good opportunity and blasted it over the Inverness bar.
In the 65th minute McCourt, who had replaced Maloney early in the first half, picked up the ball 25 yards out and glided his way through the Inverness defence before firing past Esson for Celtic's 600th goal at home in the Scottish Premier League.
Five minutes later, Foran latched on to a defensive slip-up by Rogne to snatch a lifeline for the visitors, firing in off the post to reduce the deficit.
A Hayes header crept over the bar as Inverness looked to level the scores, then Munro produced a sensational overhead kick from a Tokely corner with just seven minutes remaining to stun the home fans.
