Controversies | Songs and Anthems
Crazy as it might seem to Celtic fans today but the rousing yet harmless anthem known as The Celtic Song was once the cause of much concern in Scotland. Amazingly this simple football song was initially viewed as being potentially imflammatory by sections of the establishment and the press.

Unsurprisingly these concerns would prove to be totally unfounded and the fact they were aired in the first place perhaps says more about the motives of those who voiced them rather than the content of the song. Certainly it seems a shame these organisations didn't spend more time worrying about secterian employment practices at Rangers - which for decades they turned a blind eye to - rather than scaremongering about a perfectly innocent song.
