The newly constituted U18 squad played in an 'International' Youth Tournament in Inverness between the 6th - 8th September. The tournament was scaled down when a number of teams withdrew (these included La Baule from France).

The squad consisted of:

Paul Gallagher, McCaskill, Gary Lennox, Ray McStay, James Gallagher, Stuart Balmer, Tommy McEntaggart, Alex Mathie, Dugald McCarrison, Jamie McEwan, Steve Duff, Russell McKeevor, Gerry Creaney, Kevin Kelly, David Elliot, .

They were coached by Jimmy Johnstone and Bobby Murdoch.

The following games were played:

6th September Celtic 2-2 Augsburg
McCarrison and Elliot scored but the team let in two late goals to draw

6th September Celtic 4-0 Dunfermiline

Goals from Creaney (2), McCarrison and Elliot
