Tony McParland, Youths 1999Though he never started a first team game Tony McParland made an appearance for a Celtic representative side in the Friendly on 7/5/02 against Leeds Utd – Gary Kelly’s Testimonial.

Tony attended St.Ninian's in the Eastwood district of Glasgow the same school as Aiden McGeady who was a few years behind him. He played for the Celtic Pro Youth Academy from the age of 9 and was awarded a professional contract at the club in August 1999.
He became a solid central midfield player for the Reserves. He started 03/04 stepping up from midfield with no available proven strikers and did well. He came back after an 8 month recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury but broke down again in his comeback game.

It was always thought by the club that he would make it through to the first team but despite his eventual recovery from serious injuries he went on trial to Coventry in November 2005. He had trials w Barnsley in early February 2006 and took a pay off from the club to make him a free agent. He duly joined Barnsley and had 1 season there, commonly coming on as a substitute, before joining Wycombe Wanderers on loan in January ’07. This became a permanent deal but he was released by Wycombe at the end of the season. There followed a brief hiatus through 07/08 and in June 2008 he was reported to be on trial with Livingston. He finally sampled sustained first team football with Livi throughout the 08/09 season.

With insolvent Livingston's demotion to Division Three, McParland put in a transfer request and joined Queen of the South on trial in December 2009. The Dumfries club handed him terms until the end of the season on 6.1.10. Released and trialled with Greenock Morton in July 2010.

Dropped into the Junior ranks with Arthurlie after failing to find any takers in the 2010 summer transfer window.

Tony played football for the Scottish national teams from U17 to U21.
