Outside-right Martin Moran was a former Benburb player who first signed for Celtic in March 1898. A short player and in modern terms probably would be seen as lightweight.
Afer several exhibition games his competitive debut came in a 4-0 defeat in the league at St Mirren on October 1st and he would be released by the club just weeks later. He was one of a group of players released by the club at the time.
After a successful spell with various clubs in England (becoming a "mighty midget" and success at Millwall), he managed to get a part in Chelsea's debut league game, and played for them for three full seasons without missing a game.
He returned to Parkhead in May 1908 and was used by the club as experienced cover before moving on to Hamilton in June 1909.
Bannockburn-born Moran made a total of just three appearances for the Bhoys.
