BiogPrentice, David - Pic

Left-half David Prentice was a highly-rated junior who signed for the Bhoys from Alva Albion Rangers in February 1928.

A loan spell with Stranraer followed before the Alloa-born player made a remarkable Celtic first team debut (9 Mar 1929) in a 4-1 league win at Raith Rovers where, playing at inside-right, Prentice helped himself to a hat-trick!

He returned to his normal position soon afterwards. His boots apparently went up in flames with the burning down of the old Celtic pavillion stand. His career at Celtic sadly seem to follow suit.

In truth, he never looked like recapturing the form of his debut Prentice, not scoring another goal remarkably again. He made a total of six Celtic appearances before joining Plymouth Argyle in June 1930 following spells on loan at Ayr United and Nithsdale.
