Introduction
There are very few - if any - football clubs to have inspired and fired the imagination of historians and authors quite like Celtic.
Supporters of the Hoops have been lucky enough to have writers and historians like David Potter, Tom Campbell, Eugene MacBride, George Sheridan and Pat Woods (to name just a few) to frequently turn their attention to the rich pickings provided by the incredible history of the Celts.
The body of work produced on the subject of the Bhoys is of such a volume and quality that there is no excuse for any Celtic fan not to know their history.
Yet for the most part these authors don't get the attention and acclaim they and their work deserve. For most of these authors this work is a labour of love and one with relatively limited financial reward. It is time that those who tell the Celtic story get the credit they deserve. With this in mind The Celtic Wiki Book Award was launched to be an annual opportunity to highlight the very best in new Celtic-related books.
Celtic books released in any given year will be considered for the award with reviews published on The Celtic Wiki and discussions on a dedicated thread found on kerrydalestreet.co.uk. The winning book each term will then be voted by followers of The Celtic Wiki and promoted via our twitter and Facebook accounts.
In 2012 an incredible total of 16 books were in the running for the title which - after an internet poll which attracted more than a thousand votes - was eventually claimed by 'The Road To Lisbon' .
The inaugural award - The Celtic Wiki Book Award 2010/11 - was won by acclaimed author and broadcaster Archie Macpherson for his book - "Undefeated - The Life and Times of Jimmy Johnstone".
