Biog

Signed as an amateur right-half, John Wylie made just a single league appearance for Celtic when he was part of a Celtic side which lost 5-3 at Hearts in a Regional League tie on 13 February 1943.

It was war-time and Celtic were mostly abject during the years of the second World War. John Wylie got only a single game and sadly was on the wrong end of the result, but Celtic were poor that season finishing ninth in the league table (level on points with Dumbarton), with Rangers and Morton taking the top two spots in the league.

During this season, Celtic lost more than they won in the league and even conceded more goals than they scored. Not a good environment for any new player.

John Wylie was released soon afterwards and later signed for Petershill Juniors.
