From a newspaper report from the time.

In the first half of the game neither team could claim any advantage until half an hour had gone, when Groves put on the first point, which was the occasion of great demonstrations of delight by the Celtic supporters.
the Celtic continued to press their opponents from this point until half-time, immediately previous to which Dunbar, from a scrimmage in front of the Athletic’s goal, registered a second goal for the Celtic.
On resuming play, the Dumbarton Athletic went off with a rush, and seemed determined to score, Tobin being called upon several times in the first five minutes to stop hot ones, which he did successfully.
Try as they could the Athletic could not break through the grand defence of McLaren, McKeown, and Tobin in particular, although time after time they deserved to score.
The Celtic having recovered from the surprise of this rush on the part of their opponents, transferred the play to the other end, where it principally remained until the end of the game.
The Athletic’s defence was magnificent, and they kept their goal intact for a long time. Despite the strenuous efforts of McCallum and Groves to add to their score.
O’Connor eventually beat Taylor with a hard shot from the left, and a ding-dong game ensued until the finish, when no more points having been registered, the Athletic retired defeated by three goals to nil.
