Celtic v Clydesdale
These teams met at Celtic Park in the first round of the North-Eastern (Glasgow) Cup. The Celtic played with ten men, and the Clydesdale, who, it was understood, scratched before going on the field, turned up with nine men only. The Celts kicked off, and Groves scored in a quarter of an hour. Previous to this, however, the Clydesdale who proved very fast on the ball, pressed the home side severely, and should have scored. The Clydesdale goalkeeper defended splendidly, but Dunbar added a second goal ten minutes afterwards. Groves scored a third from a good pass by Coleman. In the second half the Celtic goalkeeper never touched the ball. The Celts added other two goals, scored respectively by Coleman and Groves, and won by 5 goals to 0. The feature of the match was the phenomenal goalkeeping of Sydney Ross, the Clydesdale custodian.
