Stats

From newspaper reports from the time.

The Battlefield were considered to have but little chance of success. Kelly made his first appearance in the Celtic ranks since his recent suspension, and was received with hearty cheers. The first fifteen minutes of the game were rather an eye-opener to the Celts, as the Battlefield more than held their own, and showed by far the finest form of the two, their forwards playing a pretty passing game, which troubled the home defence very much. Groves at length opened the scoring for the Celts, and goal after goal was piled on until the half-time call, when the game stood six goals to nil in the Celts' favour.
On resuming, Battlefield scored in the first minute, and, aided by a strong wind which now arose, put on a deal of pressure. the Celts could make no headway against their opponents, but defended well, and in spite of the many determined efforts of the Battlefield, succeeded in preventing them from increasing their score. Shortly before the call of time Groves put on another point for the Celts, and the game ended in their favour by seven goals to one.
