Match Report

From a Newspaper Report at the time

Glasgow Cup Tie, second round, at Springburn.
Sharp to time Russell set the ball in motion before a large crowd. The Celtic from the first looked like winning, and for 20 minutes they kept the Northern well in, until Campbell sent the ball across the field, when Burnside missed it. Working well up, McBride equalised two minutes later. Keeping at it, Fyfe added number 2 goal for Northern. Nearing half-time, the pressure of the Celtic became great, but the Northern’s defence was equal to the occasion. Campbell put in another of his shots, but he was too high.
On changing ends the Celtic fairly hemmed in the Northern, and within a few minutes Campbell equalised. After a good deal of one-sided play the winning goal was put through from a skirmish.
The game ended – Celtic, 3 goals; Northern, 2 goals.
