Report

In the presence of about 5000 spectators the Celtic met the St Bernard's at Parkhead.

The home team, having won the toss, played with the wind at their backs, but the visitors began vigourously, and three corner kicks in succession fell to them. from the third, after a temporary check from Cullen, the Saints scored their first goal amid great cheering.

The Celtic then invaded their opponents' territory, but Davidson shot over.

A few minutes later Lees equalised the game. Immediately afterwards the same player put on a second goal. it took the St bernard all their time to hold in their opponents, who, with the wind at their backs were pressing hard.

Sneddon saved a smart cross by Madden at the expense of a corner, but the ball dropped behind. then the Saints transferred operations to the opposite end, where a free kick was awarded for Oswald being unfairly charged.

This did not bring the "Light Blues" any material advantage, as the Celts intercepted the ball and made off to the other end, where blessington shot a third goal, and a few minutes later Cassidy again sent the leather past Sneddon, who had no chance of saving it.

Ineffectual attempts to improve their position were Made by the Saints, but the home half-backs were well set.

From one of Madden's runs, the ball was sent across to the left, where Blessington ran in and scored another goal, making the game five to one in favour of Celtic at the end of the first half.

The game in the second portion was more open, and both goalkeepers were frequently called upon to save.

The St Bernard players put more spirit into their work, and fifteen minutes from the close, Oswald scored a second point for the visitors, making the result – Celtic 5 goals: St Bernard's, 2 goals.
