Review

This undecided Glasgow Cup tie took place at Celtic Park, before a large attendance. The game was very fast, and fifteen minutes after the start Lees scored for the Celtic. Five minutes later the Battlefield equalised.
Nettled at this reverse the Celtic rushed off, and Lees again put them in the ascendancy. The play continued in favour of the Celtic, who led at the interval by three goals to one.
On resuming the Celtic opened the scoring within three minutes. The play for the next fifteen minutes was in favour of Battlefield, who received a brace of corners in succession, but were very unfortunate at goal.
The Celtic tried hard to improve their lead, but bad shooting, combined with the good back play of the Battlefield, spoiled all attempts at scoring.
Result – Celtic, foue goals; Battlefield, one goal.

From a Newspaper Report at the time

Replayed Glasgow Cup Tie on Celtic Park.
Lees, after a fine combined run, taken part in by all the forwards, scored the first goal for the Celtic. The game, so far, had been very even, and the ball travelled from end to end.
Some mistake on the part of Doyle let the Battlefield in, and the ball was placed in the net.
With the game equal, play became exciting, and a foul in front of Anderson gave Celtic a chance, of which Lees was not long in taking advantage, beating Anderson for the second time.
From the restart Battlefield tried a breakaway, but Doyle returned, and Anderson had to concede a corner, from which the Celtic scored their third point.
Half-Time arrived with the scores – Celtic, 3 Battlefield, 1.
After the interval Battlefield rearranged their team, Hamilton going t outside right. A minute or two after restarting Blessington shot the fourth goal for the Celts. Some very smart play was now seen, and battlefield strove hard to reduce Celtic’s lead, but Maley, Dunbar and Doyle were impassable.
No further scoring took place and the game ending – Celtic, 4 goals; Battlefield, 1 goal.
