- 3pm ko, HT 1-1
Review
“The great day had finally arrived; Queen`s Park`s first league match! And over twenty thousand crowded into Hampden to see this opening fixture of the Glasgow League. Both teams started at full pelt and Bob McColl it was who drew first blood running in to beat Joe Cullen after nine minutes to the exuberant satisfaction of the home supporters. Both Kenny Anderson and Joe Cullen threw themselves into the fray with both sets of defenders clearing their lines. At one point a Spiders free kick close to the goal had all eleven Celtic players standing , military like, on their goal line to thwart a shot. Just before the break, Allan Martin set up Sandy McMahon who headed the equaliser. The home run was a repeat of the first 45 with both sides going close but Martin grabbed the points when he hit the winner in the 86th minute of one of the best games seen at Hampden for many a year and Celtic`s revenge for Queen`s putting them out of the Scottish two weeks before.”
