Review
After a shaky start to their season, Queen`s Park hit a purple patch for the Glasgow League and with this win leapfrogged Celtic to top the table having beaten Rangers at Ibrox the previous week. Before either team had settled down, Jim Irons took a nasty ankle knock and was carried off leaving the Spiders to battle on for 85 minutes with ten men, Hugh Butler dropping back. No defensive strategy by the Spiders however and the Parkheadians had a let off when Toffee Bob McColl put a penalty kick over Joe Cullens` bar. Taking heart and pressing forward, Celtic`s forwards found Kenny Anderson and his co-defenders in sparkling form and just couldn`t force their way through. Then Queen`s were reduced to nine fit men when Davie Stewart was lamed just before lemons. And almost inevitably the ten men burst away and Rob Lambie accepted a long throw in to twist the ball past Cullen putting Queen`s ahead and his brother, Willie, coming in from the left sent a blistering rocket past Cullen and into the far corner for the second.
