- Rangers demolition of Celtic marked out early who were the top dogs for this season. Celtic were the title holders but Rangers were to go on to have a perfect league record, and win all 18 league games this season to dominate the league.
- This result clearly marked out their ambitions, and fair to say was a springboard to what was to be their historical league achievement, in what was a far shorter league season than is the case now, and bettered now by Celtic's 2016/17 InVIncibles who won all domestic trophies and were undefeated domestically.
