- This was the first game played at the second Rugby Park
- Kilmarnock had just moved up from the 2nd division so it was a big occasion with a crowd of 10,000. 2000 of these were Celtic fans.
- Celtic treated it as a big game and ran a ‘fitba special’ (train from Glasgow). Note: tickets could be bought from Willie Maley.
