Review

Games between Hibs and Celtic often had an edge about them, and this one was no exception.
Celtic were leading comfortably but Jamie Weir was taken off with a broken nose, which Celtic players believed was no accident.

Hib's Borthwick charged little Davie Hamilton "rather forcefully", then Jimmy Quinn charged him in retaliation.

Referee Stark, already in trouble for "poor control" of previous games, sent off both Quinn for charge and Hamilton for saying "I wish I had a revolver" which was deemed "obscene and threatening language".
