HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN v. CELTlC.- These teams met in a League championship game at Tynecastle Edinburgh yesterday, the fixture being the afternoon holiday attraction in the city. The attendance would number about 12,000 the gale receipts amounting to £263, and £40 being taken at the stands. The Hearts played their usual eleven, and the Celtic made only one alteration from Saturday's cup final team Mitchell coming in for Young at right half. The Parkheaders were somewhat slow to settle, and seemed to be suffering to some extent from their cup tie exertions. From the outset the Hearts forced the pace, and by their bustling, determined methods they had more of the play over the whole game, and produced as good a display as they have given this season, Celts opened the scoring, a shot shot by M’Menemy deceiving Muir. Indeed, the custodian made no attempt to save, he being apparently under the impression that the ball was going past. Shortly afterwards Burns, the Hearts’ centre. equalised with a long shot; but M’Menemy before the interval scored again as the resust of a corner. Thus the score remained until the end although the Hearts by their well-directed efforts in the second period deserved to divide the points. Burns at centre for Hearts gave a very satisfactory display in a position which has given the Tynecastle club some trouble. Result —Celtic, two goals; Heart of Mid-Lothian one goal.
