The Glasgow Herald – Feb 17, 1919
CELTS PLAY FOR SAFETY
Altered climate conditions vetoed the proposed alterations in the Celtic attack, and McLean and McColl were not asked to make way for Browning and Cassidy. The centre-forward made a bold bid for further restoration by scoring three goals, aided and abetted by McMenemy and Gallagher, whose inimitable moves were not to be checked on such a treacherous surface by a rather crude defence. In defence as in attack Celtic shone refulgently, McNair exhibiting all those mannerisms that mark him as unique in contemporary football.
