Match report from The Scotsman, 6th March 1922

A stern tussle took place at Cathkin Park, when Third Lanark had Celtic as their visitors. Throughout the game play was somewhat scrappy, both sides missing chances. Both sets of forwards seemed to lack dash and iniative, and the defences holding out, a goalless resulted.

The Glasgow Herald – Mar 6, 1922

In the Scottish League, the leaders, Celtic, and their rivals, Rangers, were engaged in severe tests, the former with Third Lanark on the latter’s ground, and Rangers with Morton at Ibrox Park. Celtic had two players in the international game at Celtic Park, and in addition were without their centre forward McInally, and in dividing the points, in a goalless draw, with such strong opponents may be said to have acquitted themselves well.

Third Lanark pressed at  the outset, Shaw being tested by Hillhouse. Celtic then attacked, and Brownlie had to save from Hilley. The visitors combined to play the better game, but Third Lanark offered a strong defence. After change of ends Celtic again forced matters, but could not penetrate the defence. Afterwards F. Walker almost scored, and Ferguson narrowly missed. Hard play was witnessed at the finish, but there was no scoring.
