Trivia

  • Played at Cathkin Park, Glasgow.
  • Hepburn, in goal, and Haley, at right wing, had not played for the first team at any time, otherwise it was a strong Celtic team.
  • As there seems to be no record of a Celtic goalkeeper named Hepburn it seems as if Thirds loaned them their keeper Bob Hepburn.

  • Match Report

Evening Times 9th Feb 1924.

The blank Saturday in League fixtures gave both sides the opportunity to keep their “feet” in, and incidentally, of introducing an innovation in the shape of two referees. The new idea of two referees was not a failure. The quality of the play, however, did not demand it. There was only enough work for one. The experiment was not a failure, neither was it a great success. It was no test and will require a much more strenuous encounter before opinions can be formed.
