Trivia
- Jimmy McGrory misses two sitters on opening game of the season.
- Dundee's keeper Jack Britton apparently was with Celtic at a later stage in his career but no trace of him playing first team.
- Another of Dundee's players, David Prophet McLean certainly did play for Celtic as a 16-year old when he was signed as understudy to the Mighty Quinn, and scored Dundee's goal in their 2-1 defeat by Celtic in the 1925 Scottish Cup Final, the match remembered for "Patsy's Goal".
- The Glasgow Herald of Monday August 18 1924 carried no details of Celtic's draw but on Page 3 there was an advertisement for Hupmobile 16.9 HP Touring cars which were on offer for £380 plus £17 tax.
