Celtic had the better of the early exchanges, but Aberdeen settled down, and the Celtic defence was kept busy. The visitors then forced a corner and McInally beat Blackwell. Later McGrory headed the second goal. In the second half Aberdeen scored in two minutes, Jackson beating Shevlin from close range. A third goal for Celtic followed by Thomson. Aberdeen scored again through McLeod and Thomson scored again for Celtic.
