CELTIC GET POINTS AT DUNDEE.
Weakness at half-back to a large extent lost Dundee the points in their meeting with Celtic at Dens Park, Dundee. Dundee had a large share of the play, but the strength of the Celts’ mid-line, and the resource of their forwards eventually carried the day. Cook opened the scoring for Dundee in rather unexpected fashion five minutes prior to the interval, a high lobbing cross from the winger curling into the far corner of the net. Celtic were not long in finding the net when the second half began, Thomson netting from close range after four minutes. Ten minutes later the Celtic registered the winning goal through McGrory. Dundee had Townrow at centre-half and Hunter at inside right to meet the emergency caused by the injury to Rankine on Wednesday. While the pivot played quite a good game, he lacked the force of Rankine; while McNab was disappointing in the half line, as was also Hunter in front. Dundee’s best were Marsh, Brown, and Cassidy. Celtic was best served in attack, all three half-backs being strong; while Connelly, McGrory, and McInally were the pick of a penetrative front rank. The teams meet next week at Dundee in the third round of the Scottish Cup. The attendance numbered 17,000.
