NAPIER RESCUES CELTIC

Celtic had no easy passage against East Stirlingshire at Firs Park, Falkirk last night, and indeed in the opening half there seemed to be a promise of a first-class sensation when, twenty minutes played, East Stirlingshire look the lead quite deservedly through Craigie.

Following this, Celtic were not allowed to settle to an effective game, the dash and enterprise of the home side keeping them fully employed in their own territory.

Two minutes alter the resumption however, Celtic brought the scores level as a result of a disputed penalty award from which Napier scored. Five minutes later Napier put Celtic farther ahead with a cleverly taken goal, following forcing play by R. Thomson on the right. Thereafter Celtic manifested their superiority, but it was not until a few minutes from the end that Napier again scored the finest goal of the match to complete his hat trick.

It was not, a stylish game, but the spectators found it both interesting and exciting. East Stirlingshire gave a creditable account of themselves, but Celtic were undoubtedly worthy of their victory by virtue of their finish.
