CELTIC UNIMPRESSIVE

PLUCKY DISPLAY BY CLYDE

Celtic managed to overcome Clyde last night at Parkhead, but only after a terrific struggle.

The Champions appeared to have the points in safe keeping with a two-goal lead at the interval, Crum and Delaney counting, but Clyde fought back magnificently, and a goal by Wilson kept the game open.

The visiting team played desperately hard after this success, and the equaliser looked bound to come. Celts' forward line, however, improved and Brown had a busy time keeping his charge intact. Indeed, the keeper had to thank the wood on two occasions for saving him, and Buchan, peculiarly enough, was the disappointed man both times.

With the approach of time Clyde threw everything into attack, but Kennaway and his backs stood firm. Just on the whistle Crum was fouled when going through, and Patterson put his side further ahead from the spot-kick. Although the Champions won, they were not impressive.
