CELTIC'S EASY WIN

Celtic soundly defeated Aberdeen by 5 goals to 2. The Parkhead brigade, still without Delaney, gave yet another sparkling display, and, ably led by Crum, the home attack had a regular field day, and gave the Dons' defence a gruelling.

The visitors, who had to bring in Ritchie at left back because of McGill's suspension, were unfortunate in having the Greenock lad crocked early in the first half. Ritchie hobbled out time on the left wing. Even so, Celts were definitely masters. Crum scored in eight minutes from close in.

The first half was a ding-dong struggle, and there was a large number of stoppages for petty infringements. The visitors were slightly superior when the interval arrived and in the opening stages of the second half, but when Crum sent Carruth through to crash the ball past the helpless Johnstone after twelve minutes, the bottom fell out of the game.

Six minutes later Celts went further ahead when Lyon placed a free kick for McDonald to score. In three more minutes Crum broke through and scored. In a fitful Aberdeen raid, Brady gathered a slick pass from Armstrong, and took Kennaway by surprise, his shot going into the net via the post.

Celts retaliated immediately, Murphy going right through for McDonald to shoot home. With two minutes to go, the Dons were awarded a penalty, and Mills scored.

Johnstone was blameless in Aberdeen's goal, and Cooper, Fraser, and Thompson were very strong all through. The Cupholders were strong all over, with Hogg, Lyon, and Murphy outstanding.
