  • John Divers scores in the first half to give Celtic the lead but in 44 minutes Roberts equalises for Dundee. Then Divers again and Joe Carruth net to ensure the points go back to Glasgow. Andy Cowie scores with a penalty in 72 minutes for Dundee.
  • After beating Dundee Celtic top the table a point clear of Hearts (who have played a game more) and 10 points clear of Rangers.
  • Celtic now only need a point from each of their last three games to secure their nineteenth championship.
  • In the English First Division, mid-table Blackpool looked a beaten side at home to Middlesbrough trailing 0-2, but four goals from Scots saved the day. Ex-Celts Willie Buchan, (2) and Frank O’Donnell scored with Bobby Finan adding the other goal in a 4-2 victory made in Scotland.
  • Britain signed a pact with the Italian government and the Prime Minister, Mr Chamberlain sent a message to Signor Mussolini stating his wish for solid and durable relations with Italy.
