1943-05-22: Celtic 3-0 Third Lanark, Glasgow Charity Cup Final

Match Pictures | Matches: 1942 – 1943

Trivia

  • Celtic & World War Two
  • One of only two pieces of silverware won by Celtic during War Years.
  • Bit ironic winning this tournament as the past season (and in particular the time since the start of this calendar year) has been probably the worst in terms of on-field results & performances ever in the club’s history.

Review

Only Celtic’s second (and last) piece of silverware in the Second World War! Well on top of Third Lanark even before Blair was carried off with a broken ankle. Much celebrated by Celtic fans.

For presentation ceremony in Glasgow Council Chambers on Monday, Rangers (the previous winners) sent the Glasgow Cup by mistake!
