Trivia

  • Played in rain and a very muddy field at Hampden.
  • Willie Gallacher was sent off in the first half.
  • Hugh Doherty wore a rugby scrum-cap through the game to protect five stitches in a cut sustained in the previous game against Queen of the South, which was also his debut.
  • Queen's Park goalkeeper was a young Ronnie Simpson who would go on to become oner of the Lisbon Lions on 1967.

Review

McAloon laid on the first goal for Rae after Queen's Park went ahead from the spot when Corbett shouldered Liddell off the ball and into the mud. MxcAloon was the best player on the park and made light going of the muddy conditions.
