  • The team saw changes after the poor performance in the first leg. Mike Haughney was dropped at right back for this game. He had scored an own goal in the first leg and Kelly demanded his replacement. Sean Fallon came in for him. Bobby Evans was replaced by Alec Boden at right half, Evans moving forward to inside right, a position he had never started in. Jimmy Mallan replaced John McGrory at centre half. Willie Fernie was dropped.
  • 2nd Leg of the Quarter Final which Celtic won, but lost the tie with an aggregate score of 4-2 to Motherwell. Motherwell would go on to win the League Cup beating Hibernian 3-0 in the final at Hampden on 28th October
