Trivia

  • A poor run of games since the start of the New Year had seen Celtic lose the continuity of a fixed team, and with it, the winning way. They had lost the last four League game. better was expected in the Scottish Cup, especially against a side that they had handed a 6-2 whipping to earlier in the season.
  • The ground was hard and frozen and footing was difficult to keep

Review

Bonnar was badly at fault for the first goal when he failed to cut out a corner from the right and allowed Black to score. Jock Weir equalised on 38 minutes but Duncan put East Fife ahead with a fierce shot before half time. In the second half East Fife put up a resolute defence and were dangerous on the break. On 80 minutes Tully cut in from the left beating several defenders and with all expecting him to shoot, looked up and pitched a perfect pass for Bobby Collins to head home.
