  • Charlie Tully returned after his suspension; debut game for John Jack

Review

Celtic should have been two up after 7 minutes but both Collins and Lafferty missed with easy chances. In fact most of the first half saw Celtic with plenty of chances none of which they took until Lafferty latched onto a defensive mistake from Kilmarnock and lashed the ball home from 14 yards. Shortly after it looked like the referee had awarded a penalty for a hand ball from Kilmarnock when Tully fired in a fierce shot but it turned out to be a signal for offside against Lafferty. Motherwell began the second half sharpish and should have equalised through an Aitkenhead cross come shot which ended up on the bar and Bell made a mess of trying to punch it out. Luckily Baillie was on hand to clear. Peacock got the second Celtic goal and again Walsh was having a terrific game. At the death McLeod won a free kick for Motherwell and fired home.
