Trivia

  • Jimmy Walsh signed his contract on the 21st August but it was Bertie Peacock that was restore to the left wing.
  • The main controversy going round the terraces though was whether captain John McPhail should be playing and if he was wheteher it should be at centre forward. The columnists and football correspondents may not have like the 'robust' game that he played rather than the finesse game that had been his form when he was a somewhat thinner player, but Hooky still managed to get goals.

Review

Celtic kicked off in the first half and had the advantage of a strong wind behind their backs.
The first goal came following a Tully throw from the right hand side which found Millsopp. He lofted a ball into the centre and McPhail rose to head home. The second on 28 minutes was a pearler and started with Tully picking the ball up and centring for McPhail who slipped a pass to Peacock and his shot from 20 yds was a top corner scorcher. The ball was past Lornie before he realised what had happened. Tully was booked in the second half for a foul on Telfer and reid of St Mirren was also carded for a foul on Fernie. Fernie got the third when he ghot on the end of a Bobby Evans free kick and hooked the ball over the top of Lornie. St Mirren's goal came when Bonnar let a free kick slip through his hands.
