  • FIFA declared that 'Eire' would now be known as 'Ireland' and what had been 'Ireland' would now be known as 'Northern Ireland'.

Review

McPhail scored an early goal after intercepting a clearance and interpassing with Mochan. Celtic played well and were out to show that the last week's loss to East Fife was a one off. Mochan got his first with an angled drive which went in off the far post. Collins was on good form. Bonnar was rarely called on to make a save of note with the game becoming one-sided. Airdrie pulled a goal back just before half time.
The late goal brought Airdrie back into it in the second half and they had a goal disallowed for offside. Stein also made a goal line clearance. Celtic's final ball in the second half always seemed to go astray but they were still making chances. Mochan scored the best goal of the game on 80 minutes and with a minute left he had his hatrick.
