Trivia

  • McPhail dropped out – clearly played not fit in the Glasgow derby, and Hemple came back in; Collins moved back over to outside right to accommodate Walsh at inside left

Review

Meechan had to clear from the line when Bonnar was caught out in the first minute. However Aberdeen went ahead on seven minutes when O’Neil laid on a pass which split the Celtic defense and Buckley scored from close in. A fast game with the Dons getting the better of the exchanges with Stein finding Buckley a handful. Stein had to clear from the line after half an hour. Evans had a good shot at the other end but the half finished with Buckley hitting the post from a terrific shot.
Aberdeen went further ahead after the interval from another Buckley shot. Celtic did get a penalty on 60 minutes but Morrison saved Collins’ shot.
Celtic just came up against a well prepared Aberdeen team on the day.
