Review

Celtic had the ball in the net in the first minute from a goal mouth ruck but the goal was ruled out for offside. This just delayed matters and Higgins scored in the third minute from a Walsh and Mochan move. The Celts were playing confidently and Fernie got the second from an inch perfect Tully pass. Further shots followed from Evans, Fernie and Walsh. In the 35th minute East Fife opulled one back when a shot from Bonthrone was parried by Bell and Christie hit the ball from 35 yards. Gardiner then was stretchered off following a clash of heads with Peacock but he came back for the second half. A Mochan move allowed Higgins to get his second from 6 yards out. Walsh went to left wing during the second half and he managed to get a fourth just before the whistle from an acute angled shot.

With Queen of the South and Hearts both losing this weekend, Celtic moved forward in the race for the title.
