Review

A thrill-filled match which Celtic won deservedly coming from behind with superb goalkeeping from Bonnar to deny the Jags. Walsh was injured after 15 minutes and only played a token part at outside left. During the first half Thistle were all over Celtic and but for the goalkeeping of Bonnar would have established a substantial lead. As it was it stood at 1-0 at half time. The second half was all Celtic though it appeared that Mochan was less useful and appeared to be carrying an injury at inside left. Celtic's equaliser was started by Higgins who won a ball and laid on a long pass for Peacock which Fallon accepted and shot home. Mochan was then injured for real but despite this Celtic continued to attack playing less attractive football, being two men down, but fighting for every ball. Haughney controlled the ball and having perplexed the Thistle attackers cooly passed to Fernie who dribbled past any number of Thistle defenders before releasing a great shot. This was saved but he got a second chance and made no mistake with the header back past Ledgerwood. Just before full time Peacok lobbed a high ball into the area and Fallon challenged Davidson to win the ball and then cooly shot through Ledgerwood's legs. Peacock was the outstanding outfield player and Bonnar's part in keeping Thistle out in the first half made this win.

With Aberdeen defeating Hearts at the top of the table Celtic's position was strengthening by the game
